WHY DO AN OCCUPATIONAL STUDIES COURSE?

Occupational Studies provides a ‘hands-on’ approach to learning for school aged students (year 11/12), appealing to learners who are better suited to develop their skills in a more practical, work–related environment.  It is hoped that it will enhance self-esteem and self-confidence, as well as, developing social, practical and life skills.

Learners have the opportunity to progress onto other courses (e.g. NVQ Level 1 – Business Administration) and gain further training and employment.  It is also suitable for learners returning to education or training.

COURSE STRUCTURE:

Occupational Studies is available as both a Double and Single Award.  For the Double Award, learners must complete and be assessed in 4 units, whilst 2 completed and assessed optional units are required for the Single Award.

The occupational Studies Programmes available are:

  • Early years care and Education
  • Business Administration
  • IT
  • Essential Skills
  • Bricklaying
  • Mechanics
  • Tiling
